Yan Leong

Yan Leong obtained her LL.B (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 2015 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016. Prior to founding FLTC, she practised with established litigation firms, where she gained extensive experience in civil and commercial disputes under the mentorship of senior litigators.

Yan’s principal area of practice is litigation, with particular emphasis on complex civil and commercial disputes, shareholder and corporate conflicts, property-related disputes, and matrimonial matters. including high-value claims. Yan has acted in a range of high-value claims, including claims exceeding RM10 million and has successfully resolved substantial disputes through both litigation and strategic settlement. Notably, she recently secured a favourable resolution in a RM4 million property dispute without the need for a full trial.

She has extensive experience in corporate and commercial disputes, including matters involving minority oppression, boardroom deadlocks, breaches of directors’ duties, and investment-related fraud. Notable matters handled by Yan include securing a favourable market-value buy-out in a High Court shareholder dispute and resolving a shareholder deadlock through negotiated restructuring and exit terms.

Yan also maintains an active matrimonial and family law practise, advising clients on divorce, custody, maintenance, and matrimonial asset division. She is recognised for her strategic approach, meticulous preparation, and ability to navigate complex and sensitive disputes with professionalism and discretion. Her commitment to delivering practical and effective solutions has earned the trust of clients across a broad range of matters.

Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka, Yan advises a diverse clientele across a broad range of contentious matters.

Yan is an affiliate of MAICSA and serves as legal advisor to various community organisations and temples. In recognition of her professional achievements and contributions to the legal profession, she was nominated as a finalist for the Young Lawyer of the Year Award at the ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2026.
