Yan Leong

Yan Leong obtained her LL.B (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 2015 and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2016. Before founding FLTC, she trained at several prominent litigation firms, gaining hands-on experience alongside seasoned litigators, an exposure that shaped her litigation instincts and practical approach to dispute resolution. Yan is fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka, enabling her to serve a diverse range of clients effectively.

Yan’s primary area of practice is litigation, particularly complex civil disputes involving highvalue claims. She has handled matters exceeding RM10 million and recently resolved a RM4 million property dispute in her client’s favour without going to full trial.

Yan is also well-regarded in matrimonial and family law, where her calm and patient approach proves invaluable in cases involving custody, maintenance, and division of assets. Clients consistently praise her dedication, attention to detail, and commitment, regardless of the matter’s complexity.

With her litigation background, she has handled complex shareholder disputes involving minority oppression, boardroom deadlocks, director misconduct, and fraudulent investment inducement. Notably, Yan resolved a shareholder dispute via a High Court action, securing a favourable buy-out at market value for her client in one case, and in another, resolved a deadlock through negotiated restructuring and exit terms.

Yan is an affiliate of MAICSA and a legal advisor to several community organisations and temples.
